history

The Quarters were used by the stockmen who lived and worked on Foxlow. The men would collect their instructions for the day outside the Station Office, saddle up at the stables, then set off for a hard day’s work such as boundary riding, repairing fences, mustering and the sorts.

Quarters No. 1 was known as the “single men’s quarters”, as it had basic bunk accommodation with no bathroom or running water. No.2 was the “married men’s quarters”, with its own bathroom and laundry.

Today, the Quarters and Stables appear largely unchanged from those bygone days.

Tales of station life at Foxlow and in the surrounding district are on display in the Quarters library.
