The ESTATE
Nestled in the valley, the Homestead’s characterful stone exterior opens into grand historic interiors.
Sleeping up to 12 guests, the homestead features oak-panelled rooms, high ceilings and luxurious comfortable spaces. A unique collection of books can be found in the main homestead library, recently built of timber cut from a 150-year-old Foxlow red oak that fell in a storm.

history
Foxlow was one the earliest farms to be taken up in the Molonglo Valley and was initially selected by John Hosking in the 1830s.
It was subsequently owned by well known NSW pastoralists including Thomas Rutledge, George Osborne, Franc Falkiner and now the Michell family.
The homestead, designed by architect Howard Joseland, together with it’s outbuildings, form an harmonious group set amongst mature trees.
John Hosking was the first owner of Foxlow and his legacy lives on in the name of Hoskinstown. He named the Foxlow after his wife, Martha Foxlow Terry.
In 1843 Hosking became insolvent and much of his property was sold. Subsequently Hosking sold Foxlow to Thomas Rutledge of Carwoola, who later sold it to George Osborne in 1870.
Franc Falkiner bought the property in 1920 from the Osbornes and with architect Howard Joseland, renovated and extended the original house, building date unknown, creating a single storey homestead with white walls and red roof.
In 1929 Franc Falkiner died and Foxlow remained in the Falkiner family until it was sold in 2014.
Purchased by the Michell family, a seven year renovation has taken place of the homestead buildings and the gardens, reinvigorating the whole Station.
The property continues to evolve as new structures are built including garden walls and green house.
